Tucked away inside one of West Virginia's beautiful mountains is where you'll find Hernshaw Farms. They use the Memorial Tunnel along the West Virginia Turnpike to grow a large variety of mushrooms. We talk to them about how they supply local restaurants with gourmet mushrooms and give people across the country to grow their own delicious varieties at home.

George Patterson is the Founder of Hernshaw Farms, which grows exotic mushrooms and transforms abandoned mine land into farmland using waste from fungi production. Hernshaw Farm grows its product inside Memorial Tunnel off the West Virginia Turnpike. You can find his mushrooms in many local restaurants across the state and nationwide. 



There's an effort to breathe new life into an old West Virginia Turnpike tunnel by using it to grow mushrooms.
